Standard System
The Base Unit
The Standard System comes with a base unit and a wrist button. The base unit is the main communication device. It is approximately the size of an answering machine and connects easily to your telephone and mains power. The unit is connected by wireless connection to the wrist button (plus optional fall detector for Standard Plus and infra-red detectors for the Advanced System). When activated, the unit connects automatically via the telephone line to the 24 hour response centre in the UK.
The Wrist Button
The portable button is a lightweight and discreet personal alarm trigger which can be worn on the wrist, belt or around the neck. When the button is activated within range of the base unit, it sends an alarm to our 24 hour response centre which immediately activates the relevant help procedures. (See FAQ sheet for more details on this procedure).
Standard Plus - Fall Detector
The fall detector included in our plus packages is similar in appearance to the wrist button but can only be worn around the neck or on the belt as it must be kept near to a vertical position. It has a tilt mechanism which activates if the user falls over but which is easily cancelled if activated in error. If not de-activated within a given time period, an alarm is automatically sent to the 24 hour centre which again initiates the relevant help procedure. This is also included in our Advanced Plus System and is recommended for those at particular risk of falls or black outs.
